Remembering him on his birthday

Happy Birthday Grampa!  We miss you immensely.  It's been almost 2 years since you left but it seems like yesterday.  Time deadens the pain a bit but there is still a gaping hole in our hearts where you were.

You'd be proud of the way your boys have stepped up to take care of their mom and each other.    They are both still weird and quite the pranksters.  They have managed to put aside any differences they may have had and put their mom's needs first.  She needed to see them together and getting along so that's what they did. You raised some fine family oriented men.  Only one of them is cute though.  Thank God, it's the one I married.

Towery Family Reunion June 2011

The grandkids are adjusting to their new normal that doesn't involve you.  There have been some bumps in the road for all of them.  This was to be expected as you were their first great loss.  They had to learn how to live their life without your support and guidance.  It has been a tough road for them. You would be proud of their resilience.

Grammy & Madison June 2012

We will celebrate your life today.  We will reminisce about you and comfort each other.  We will smile at the happy memories and cry at your absence.  Most importantly, we will do it together as a family.  That indeed would have made you smile.

  1. I always remember grampa because he died only a few months after my dad, and I mourned with you. His birthday is only two days before mine. Hugs, Penny.
