Stepping Way Out of My Comfort Zone

This is my favorite missionary family (Sorry, Christine! You are a close second though).  They left for Jimaní, Independencia, Dominican Republic this past May to work in an orphanage.  Sold everything they owned and moved themselves and their three children to a third world country.  Wow, that stills make me shake my head in amazement at their complete obedience to what God was calling them to do.  Talk about way out of your comfort zone.

After having ran/walked the Oak Barrel half marathon this past Easter, I started to think about the Princess half marathon next February and how I could use it to raise funds for my good friends.  God planted a seed in my heart that seemed so far fetched that I initially didn't tell anyone about it for months.  I actually haven't mentioned it to anyone until today.  I didn't want anyone to try to talk me out of it or tell me it was impossible.  It certainly seems it. I am completely not qualified to do anything like this in my own devices.  I knew if I spilled the beans too early then I could easily be talked out of it.  It seems crazy.  But then again God doesn't call the qualified.  He qualifies the called .  I don't need to know how it's going to get done.  Just get busy doing what He is calling me to do.  Ok, I've tortured you enough.  Here it is.

I am going to lead Team Jimani in the Disney Princess half marathon. 

Raise $18,000.  That would build a complete aquaponics system for the orphanage in Jimani.  This would enable them to have fresh fish for protein and fresh veggies too.  Two things you and I probably take for granted.

                                      Building construction/renovation $12,000                                      Plumbing - $1,800                                      Electrical - $1,200                                     18,000 gallons of water - $1,500                                     Fish breeding tanks: 3 tanks, pump, pipe and fish ($750)                                     Tilapia - $1,000                                     Seeds - $300                                     General supplies: net pots, rafts, nets, tools, gravel, etc. - $800

               6 months 

to get in to running/walking  half marathon shape.

God has laid this on my heart to lead it.  Like Nehemiah whom I just finished studying , all He is asking me to do is to leave my comfortable place and be obedient. This has to be the scariest thing I have ever done in my life.  I'll be doing updates through the next six months talking about training/fundraising and all that goes with this endeavor. Whose with me?
