Take time this season to serve others

This year,  like we have done the past 4 years , we rang the bell for the Salvation Army.  It started out as something that Logan wanted to do one year for his birthday.  We had so much fun doing it that it became a tradition in our family.

Our homeschool group organizes several days for volunteering.  It is a two hour shifts so not so long that the kids get bored.  Last year, we did it on the coldest days in Florida in centuries.  Yes, I said centuries.  It was bitterly cold.  Ugh!

Madison, especially, loves to ring the bell.  She dances around while ringing the bell.  Sometimes people will give her change to put in for them. She likes that part.  Logan likes to say "God Bless" when a donation is made.  It is really sweet to watch both of them.

It's a great way to remind them that there are others less fortunate than themselves.  It forces them to take the focus on themselves and their wants.  That Jesus is the reason for the season and we should strive to be like Him.  I encourage you to try it this season.  You may like it and make it a tradition in your family like we did. You never know until you try!
