Field trips, Service , and Maybe Some Lessons Too
What a busy week we had! We had double the work since I was out with a migraine all last week. The children were lucky to get fed last week never mind get lessons too. So, we had an impromptu week off. I'm sure I will regret it in April when it's break time and we aren't done yet. That's the beauty of homeschooling for sure.
Monday
This brought the beginning of a new term of hippotherapy for Logan. He is always excited to ride and talk with Mrs. Cindy at Liberty's Gait. He even brought her one of the cabbages from his garden. Thankfully, my mom brings him since one the hoses to the radiator broke in our truck. It was an easy fix. We just had to wait until Nana came with her beast of a truck to take us to the parts store.
Tuesday
We went to the Florida Pioneer Museum as part of your Florida History lessons. It was about an hour drive there and another one back so we didn't really do formal lessons when we got home. Plus it was Dad's day off so we like to spend time with him instead. We had a great time at the museum and learned tons especially about the effect of railroads on Florida's history. Do you know why most of the cypress trees in Florida are considered young trees? Most of the mature trees that were over 500 years old were cut down as lumber in the 1800s and hauled out of swamps by railroad cars. Therefore all the cypress trees we see today usually about 200 years old or less.
Wednesday
We did our weekly service project. This week, it was our Viste deliveries where we bring food boxes to the elderly. It only takes us the morning to do it so we did bang out some math and copywork before Logan had to leave for his volunteer work at church with the children's music program. Madison has recital coming up in dance in a few months so I made the executive decision that she should take the spring term off from music. She begrudgingly agreed that this was a good decision. She and I worked on narration before she left for dance class and I left for church. Wednesdays are really tiring which is why we don't usually do lessons. Instead,we finish our week up on Saturday.
Thursday
Other than one more dance class and Bible study, we managed to stay home most of the day. Lots of reading was done then Dad took over for math. We managed to finish last week's work finally. :)
Friday
Much to the chagrin of everyone, I took over their plan books and doled out work. We have an extremely busy weekend planned with sleepovers, airport runs, library, game night at church, reptile expo and Secret Keeper Girl. There will be no lessons this weekend. I am hoping tomorrow afternoon to have enough of a break to build our light hut for science. We will see if that happens.
Hop on over to see what other families are doing over @ Weird Unsocialized Homeschoolers. Thanks for hanging out with me this week!
