Double Digit Birthday Week

It's official now.  Madison is now a double digit midget.  I now have no more children in single digits.  Why does that make me teary eyed?  Anyway, if you read my blog at all then you know we celebrate birthdays for a week.  This birthday week was declared the best one ever!  I call that a success for sure.  Want to know what we did?  Well. I'm gonna tell you.  Because I'm nice like that!

Day 1

We started the day off with the free movie at the Cobb theaters.  We saw Yogi Bear.  It was a cute movie.  A funny story is that we went to see it last summer at the free movie but I thought it started at 10:30 not 10.  So we missed the first half of the movie.  This time, we got great seats and saw the whole thing.

After church, I whisked the children off to our local drive in.  You get to see 2 movies for the price of one.  Luckily, it was 2 movies that we really wanted to see. Madison, unfortunately, ended up really sick after the first movie.  She laid down in the back of the truck and slept through Men In Black 3.

Day 2

This was a slow day for us.  I originally planned for the kids to go on the Children's Activity Day with our church as the birthday surprise.  Madison was so sick though that she couldn't go.  I let the children play all day.  That night, we had family movie night complete with concession stand which is something Madison is always trying to get us to do with her.  We watched Puss in Boots and Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader.  Well, Madison watched Puss in Boots.

Day 3

Madison felt loads better today.  I decided to bring her favorite lunch home to her after taking Nana to the doctor.  She was quite pleased to eat KFC for lunch as were all of us with the exception of Logan.  KFC doesn't make gluten free chicken.  Too bad, huh?

That evening was Family Fun Night at church.   Leslie was so gracious to bring a birthday cake so we could all celebrate.  Everyone at church sang to her.  We played the evening away eating way too much food and laughing ourselves silly!

Day 4

It was announced today that I officially outdid myself.  Yay me! I am embarrassed to admit that we live in Florida and my daughter has been to the beach twice in her life.  Once when she was 3 and a couple of summers ago when we visited my sister in Jacksonville.  Every summer I promise to take her and we never get around to it.  Michael was off this weekend so off to the beach we went. In my defense, the beach can be very hard on a sensory handicapped child aka Logan.  I truly didn't know what to expect from him.  As usual, he surprised me with playing in the water and sand like it was nothing.

Day 5

Since Logan was due to leave for youth camp the next morning, we did the grandparents lunch today. This year, unfortunately, we did the Grammy lunch only.  Nana was not feeling well so her and Papa stayed home.  We missed them bunches!  We ate at Olive Garden (Madison's choice) .  It was quite scrumptious!

Day 6

Between getting Logan off to camp and the Fios guy coming out from Verizon, it was a crazy busy day!  Madison didn't notice though since she was too busy playing with her new Kindle Fire!  I'll make up for it this Saturday when we go to Picazzo's Cup pottery shop with the Women's Ministry.

Day 7

Her final day in single digits!  After playing with friends all day,  she and I set out for a much needed pedicure before camp next week!  This is one of her favorite things to do.  We don't do it nearly often enough.  As you can see, she truly loves it.  I loved hanging out with her!

She misses Logan when he is away at camp! We all do but her most of all.  They really are buddies.  Tonight she decided to sleep on his bed.  I can't believe that a decade has gone by since she entered our world.  Where would we be without her?  I dare not imagine!  When she wakes up in the morning, she will be a double digit midget!
