Nearing the Halfway Mark

You're thinking halfway to what?  Remember my post on Sept. 1st about the creation of Team Jimani?  I was starting a team to run the Princess half marathon in an effort to raise $18,000 for an aquaponics system for an orphanage where my good friends, Stephen and Vanderly, currently reside. Well, we are at the halfway point timewise.

In the past 3 months, we have had 21 people sign up to be team members.  Simply put, we have 21 people agreeing to raise $500 by Feb. 24, 2013.  That means we have $10, 500 in pledges.  Right off the bat, we got a $1000 anonymous donation so that was awesome.  The pace has slowed down considerably but I'm hoping it will pick up as the year ends and people try to get in donations to lessen their tax bill. Care to donate?  Go here , click on aquaponics , put my name (Penny Rogers) in the comments section and donate away!  You can also mail a check to:

Training is coming along.  I have been pretty slack at it.  Time slips away from me and before I know it, it's dark thirty.  I better fix that flaw soon because 13.1 miles is a long way to go without adequate training.  I have been doing some but not nearly enough.  Thankfully, there is still time to get in half marathon shape.  :)

So that's the long and short of it.  I still believe that God has called me to do this.  I have no doubt that He has a fantabulous plan for it all to come together.  I can't wait to see it all unfold knowing that He called me to it.  I have spent a lot of time reminding myself that if He doesn't call the qualified to do great and mighty things.  He qualifies the called!
